DRY EYES

Dry eye that occurs when tears aren't able to provide adequate moisture. Risk of acquiring this condition increases with age. It's also seen more commonly among post-menopausal women. The eye may become dry, red and inflamed. The main symptoms are discomfort and sensitivity to light. Prescription and lubricating eye drops can reduce dryness.

The prevalence of Dry Eye in India ranges upto 54.3%, higher than the global prevalence. Dry eyes is a condition where your tears are unable to sufficiently act as lubricant and moistures on the surface of the eyes.

Dry eye disease is one of the most common eye conditions worldwide and a primary reason for visits to the eye doctor.

Dry eyes is a chronic and typically progressive condition, it may not be completely curable but can be managed successfully. Treatment usually results in greater comfort, fewer dry eye symptoms and, sometimes, sharper vision.

WHAT CAUSES DRY EYES?

Anyone can get dry eye, but below conditions make it more prominent
Excess of use of Digital devices like Computer, mobile, laptop etc.
Wearing contact lenses
Age 50 or older
Post-menopausal women are at greater risk of dry eyes than men of the same age.
Smoking
Health conditions – such as diabetes, thyroid-associated conditions, and Sjogren's syndrome can contribute to dry eye problems.
LASIK and other corneal refractive surgery can sometimes cause dry eyes.

A scratchy feeling, like there’s something in your eye
Stinging or burning feelings in your eye
Red eyes
Sensitivity to light
Blurry vision
